diy :: upcycled baby onesie to superhero costume

over the weekend, we were invited to blake's mate, carter's superhero birtday party! i had been looking forward to the party for a looong time cos its always fun around them and hey!! what better excuse to dress up right?

there are TONNES of superhero tees and outfits out there for little boys! turns out what i lost in ballerina costumes, fairy wings and princess tiaras... i get in supersonic capes and bright colored lycra.. boooooooooooooo...

i thought to flex my crafty muscles to make him his own outfit. so i picked a plain onesie that he doesn't wear very often!

introducing the laziest way to trace a logo..
pull it up on your screen, set the brightness setting to max and trace on fabric!

"ah hah! why not personalize it!!"

i pulled out a piece of red cotton from my scrap pile and cut a short cape free hand..
my rationale is that he'd be sitting or crawling most of the time so if the cape is too long, he'd trip on it lots. also increases the chances of mr itchy fingers pulling it off!!

thought maybe i'll make it detachable for easy laundering! so instead of sewing it down flat, i attached it using large press buttons!

and we're all done! pressed it, had a snack and cleaned up all before the end of naptime!
waheyyyy!!

now someone make me a super-mom cape!! :)

    2. haha! i didn't intend to line it at first, but the round bits of the cape will make hemming it much more of a work so i reckoned lining it much work out to be a better option. i totally forgot i had the glue gun at home :D
