travel tips :: when in flight...

you know how you're meant to feed your child when the plane takes off and lands? well if you didn't know, that's a bonus tip! :) but a lot of parents start feeding their children once they get settled in and the plane closes their doors. but in fact, there is usually a good 15 - 20 mins before take off!! so a girlfriend once told me to start feeding only when i hear the pilot say "cabin crew please take your seats for take-off."

recently, another fellow mama told me its easier for babies to sleep on long flights if they're wearing eye masks!! which totally makes sense! don't you hate it when they flip on the lights when you just finished your 5th movie and finally started dozing off? but the tricky bit with babies is how to keep things on their faces! so in preparation for that, i got little blake his first pair of sunnies!!

and plus he looks extra badass with them!
guess what? he loves wearing them! no fuss at all...

{with uncle song}

except he inherited his mama's flat nose-bridge so it keeps slipping down his nose!

if you have other tried-and-tested travel tips for babies, please share!!!
the travellers sitting next to us thank you in advance!

  1. They say the best (most suitable) seat for any dad on board of a plane is the one directly in front of his child. Haha!

  2. I agree with the first piece of advice!

    Few other travel tricks I have learnt over the years:

    1) There is no need to bring toys up the plane - my boys were far more interested in climbing all over and playing with the plastic cups, spoons, remote, etc on the plane ;)

    2) When we travel in cold countries, I layer my boys with PJs (from the night before) under their going-out clothes to keep them warm. If they get too warm, just remove some layers. If they throw up, I just replace the top layers :p So I don't have to bring too many sets of clothes!

    3) I always bring a small set of sand/bath toys every trip so they can play with them in the hotel tub or if we go to any beach. And I always pack a pair of scissors for Sean in the car coz he loves cutting stuff and it keeps him occupied for a long time! (he doesn't care for crayons) :)

  4. I normally pack the diapers, wet wipes and change mat in a small bag. So whenever I gotta change the bub, I just bring the small bag to the toilet instead of looking all over for each item in the bag.

    1. that's a great idea! I have a travel changing mat which i will definitely bring!! do you diapy change in the little toilet in the plane? HOW!?

    2. I only started flying after the bub turns one. So I use pull-up instead! Much easier than changing a fidgety bub in that confined space.

  5. Oh! Do prep medication (baby paracetamol + syringe etc) for the flight just in case! I had a pax whose baby suddenly had a fever AND no medication on our flight to SG. Thank goodness the mom next to her had some and gave her.

    There's a baby changing table in e aircraft toilets but yah I guess it's cleaner to use ur own changing mat ;)
