home hunting :: cute furniture in singapore

so we're in the midst of furnishing our little home.
(and feeling a whole bout of nesting instinct!!)

our first stop was ikea, of course, to see what's in store but we held off on ikea purchases because tempting as their prices are, the quality and style is not always THERE!
(of course to satiate my hotdog craving..)

but i've been trooping around singapore in search of interesting furniture pieces
that won't break the bank. here are some of the cute places i loved!

this was one of our first stops. it was so close to mom's place but we took forever to find it! i gave up about 5 times but mom, who is a much better person, kept telling me to keep searching. and man it was worth the extra effort. the showroom guy was awesome and brutally honest with recommendations, prices and our choice of couch (white) when living in a family with small dogs and small bub but was the most helpful.

i wanted to lug this piggy home but didn't think the husband would apprciate.
we're also in love with their dining chairs and will prolly pick up a few from there!

love their chic gallery but they were unfortunately closed when we visited!
coincidentally, this is the dining table we've got our hearts set on.

we first went to their showroom at park mall (despite thinking that park mall were for fuddy-duddy, stiff and overpriced furniture... hopefully we're not falling into that category already!) and found their designs super chic and well-made. then got talked into seeing their flagship store at mount sophia which was even more awesome.

loved their furniture but wondered if they were too woody and modern for our current apartment.
maybe when we move into our balinese-inspired bungalow, huh?

we're still browsing and trying to be patient with our search.
its so tempting to pick everything up from one place and know that they'd all fit nicely together.
but not meant to be!

if there are any undiscovered gems you know of,
drop me a note!

xx

  2. I LOVE GRAFUNKT!!!! I wish I had gone to their showroom before we designed the house coz I would have gone for a more industrial look and gotten everything from there!

My other favourite is Air (we got our dining chairs from there). You can also try Space, Commune, Bo Concept, Pomelo and White Woods. Happy house shopping!

  5. Having so many furry critters prompted me to buy a leather couch which I have never regretted. You can absolutely do white leather with a fuzz ball and a bub, but I would shy away from white fabric.

A lot of the design blogs I look at feature white overstuffed couches (which makes me sigh longingly) and huge families with cats or dogs, but they all seem to be fitted slipcovers that get washed constantly.

I mailed your stuff yesterday. It's on a slow boat to China and will hopefully get to you before the baby is born!

  13. Nice blog! But the store you mention here, Lush Furniture is notorious for awful customer service? Be careful if you want to shop there!
