in the kitchen :: ombre rice krispy treats

to celebrate the husband's last day in his client's office, we decided to make a batch of sweets! we wanted something easy and unique and my dear friend from ohmyomiyage came up with an american favorite - rice krispy treats! and in a land of sweets, we've not spotted these babies yet!! so it was something fun to share with his japanese co-workers.

of course, jen had to up the ante and
suggest that we try ombre-style treats too...

which turned out stinking cute...

we wrapped them in wax paper and a simple bow...

complete with a little "thank you" tag!
(your free downloadable tag here)

the peeps in the office LOVED it! and think we should open a sweets shop.
so yayy!! what a fabulous way to say bye!

p.s. yayy to the husband for working 1.5 years in a japanese office!
im sooo proud of you!

xx

    2. haha - I mean the Ombre instructions! Do I just put food coloring down in the pan and let them soak it up?? I've only used all over food color :)

    3. ohhhhhh... hahah! that makes more sense!

actually, we did it by layers in increasing intensity. starting from white, and we added a bit of coloring more into each batch and layer it on top of each other. so it took 4 x amount of time taken to make a single layer! :)

i wanna make pink ones (obviously..) :)

That does sound like a lot of work, but worth a try! I'll send you a pic if I accomplish it!

  7. yay! a success! :) I'm playing with gum paste to jazz these up a little bit more. Although I don't like what these treats represent. I'm going to miss our little adventures together! xoxo
