a week of tea :: thai iced tea

one of the yummiest things to have in our fridge at all times is iced tea. we always have a flask of regular flavored / black tea. to spice things up, you can freeze berries and fruits into ice cubes for a splash of flavor but otherwise, its good as it is.

here's a yummy recipe to share with y'all.

this is the husband's favorite tea of all time.
(he's got a sweet tooth and super high metabolism, that one..)

:: ingredients ::

- 8 cups of water
- 1 cup loose thai tea
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 3/4 cup of condensed milk

:: preparation instruction::

 boil water. add the loose tea and vanilla and remove from heat. be sure to stir so that all leaves have been submerged in the water. allow to steep for about ten minutes.

strain the tea in a pitcher using a mesh strainer and place in the fridge to cool. (if adding sugar, do so at this time and stir till sugar has dissolved.)

when ready to serve, fill glasses with ice to the top. pour in the tea until the cup is 3/4 full of liquid. add a few tablespoons of the sweetened condensed milk. leave a straw or a spoon so that each person can mix it on their own.

note: if you are not using sweetened condensed milk, you can use evaporated milk or cream. add about 1/2 cup of sugar to taste.

hope you enjoy it!

  1. Freezing berries in ice cubes sounds awesome! I too love thai iced tea. I don't make it at home though because I don't want it in my fridge all the time. I'd never stop drinking it if that were the case. But I always order it whenever I go to a thai restaurant...and sometimes I even get it to go, lol.
