date night :: revisited

 we always say that "every night is date night". because we eat out all the time!!

but our friends came to town recently and after hanging out with them, we realized that we needed to step things up. its not a competition, i know... but as a newly-dating couple, they hold hands a lot, kiss every two seconds and coo sweet nothings while staring into each others eyes. its really darling. we look at them as we juggle muumuu, his travel bag, our million and one belongings and shove our hands into our pockets "cos its soooo cold"!!

so to get things going, we set up an official date night. called in advance and made reservations, i put on proper make-up (ie faux lashes) heels and a dainty lace dress and we didn't ride our bicycles! what a change... it was even drizzling ever so romantically...

we wined and dined and had a luxuriously slow evening just him and i. we even laughed at the "old us" who used to bring our cameras everywhere we went!! and the number of badly taken self-shots we own.

and at the end of the evening, the husband bashfully asked if i'd go home with him. (i said yes..) and we walked home in the rain to our sweet-smelling puppy dog. not too shabby after all!!

guess we'd be doing more of these in the near future! :)

  2. Awww! That's lovely! I often complain to the boyfriend that we never go on 'dates' anymore because we do everything together and have been for so many years... xD I shall propose that we have official date nights too! Although they won't be as lovely as yours as we won't have a sweet smeling muu to come home to xD

    Speaking of us doing everything together, we are visiting Tokyo and Kyoto for a week in July! Any recommendations or tips on places to visit, particularly in Tokyo that guidebooks wouldn't talk about would be much appreciated! I have actually visited Tokyo before...but I mainly spent my time in Disneyland and Disneysea.... hahahah

    1. awwww... im sure it would be a lot of fun to go on date nights with or without muukins to come back to! :) maybe its time to get your own pup! :)

      tokyo... i love jiyugaoka, daikanyama and shimokitazawa. they are neighborhoods that require a little more time to quietly explore and walk into cute little nooks but i really appreciate them for their charm!

    2. We would LOVE to have a pup! We just know that it would be unfair to the pup because we wouldn't have the time to spend with it... and when we are working we will be gone 13 hours or so a day...so in the near future it doesn't look particularly feasible :(

      Maybe when we get retired (.....in about 55 years years...looking at the way the British govt is putting up the retirement age!)

      OOOOo *jots down* thank you for the recs. Will check these out ^_^

    3. one day you'll figure a way around it. you be surprised how little time (our) dog needs from us. he is happy just to be chilling out and napping. but not all dogs are the same. our dogs back home needed rubs and walks all the time! :)

      have a blast!! tokyo is lots of fun and a tonne of delish food options to explore!

  3. Sounds like an lovely evening. It's always so romantic to take a walk at night with your loved one in the light rain (or snow). Except maybe in countries like Singapore where it's too hot!

    Sometimes I do miss all lovey dovey stuff that we got up to when we first start dating. In fact I complain all the time that M doesn't kiss me enough now. Think we are definitely gonna have to organize date nights too once the little one comes along so we can have quality time together.

    2. oh another date night rule, keep conversations about muu to a minimal!! otherwise, we are tempted to skip drinks or dessert to go home sooner to him! :) lol
