beauty :: matomage hair styling stick

im often inspired by youtube videos and beauty bloggers to doll up a little more. but every time i get the right make up on, im usually VERY late (it takes time!!) or the pictures don't turn our as cute as bangbangsheshoots and pinkfishtart.

so that's my disclaimer. these pictures are very terrible.
(and the husband will be calling in a few minutes to say "seriously? did you see how blur/yellow/badly taken they are?")
but i really wanna share this new find with y'all!

sporting my regular messy (ie lazy) side bun...
but check out that nest of fly-aways perched on my head!! the bane of my existence!!

i found this with ellie last week in a japanese drugstore, recommended by her girlfriend.
its super cute and compact. there is a green version that is stronger but who picks green over pink?

roll it on like a gluestick!!

all smooth up top!

but messy at the back! (yayy!)

i love it!! its teeny tiny, packs in your make up kits and great for baby hair at the nape of your neck too! it doesn't feel too heavy or glossy and has no scent!! you can get it in most japanese drugstores for about 400 yen ( 4 USD) i wish i found this earlier so i didn't have to deal with years of gel-hard ballet head!!

by the way, did i tell you i have a few hundred of these shots of my bathroom?

and now the bigger question is...

how in the world do i get rid of my triple eye bags!? i've been sleeping a tonne and use my eye cream super duper regularly. help, anyone?

xx

  2. is that wax or smoothing balm? i usually wake up with my lion hair and don't have time to set it up, maybe i should try it :D
for eye bags, how about elevate your head lil bit more when sleeping?

  3. To be honest, I have heard that most eye creams don't work although some of my friends swear by SKII? Perhaps you can try them?

And well, there's always Botox if you're opened to the idea. :)

  4. Some are born with the eye bags, so cannot help much there.

Probably your problem is water retention?? Can try take "misai kucing" or "lemongrass" tea to get rid of the water retention.

Btw, great styling gagdet. Never seen one here. Must hunt for it. I have a lot of baby hair too.

I totally need that too!! My hair is fine and flyaway like yours. Recently, I've been having my front 'baby hair' sticking out and I look like that scene in 'Something about Mary' ...

  6. Woah, that little product is so nifty!

Re eyebags, I have the same tendency too...recently, when I realized that I can't use "being Asian" as a long-term anti-aging strategy, I picked up this book called Facercise (yes, I am chagrined to admit this) with a bunch of facial exercises, including one that is supposed to help with under-eye issues. Not sure about results yet because I haven't been doing the exercises that regularly, but could be interesting!

  7. Nifty hair solution! Re eye bags I have the same problem. I think I got it from my dad and it just means (if it is hereditary) that there is more fat under your eyes. But caffeine in eye creams or concealed help or using tea bags for super horrible mornings... I use the garnier under eye concealer which has caffeine in it. It was recommended by Brit beauty YT guru Lisa Eldridge herself ;-)

  9. Awwwww!! I feel your pain, lighting/being late is why I don't often post FOTD/make up looks!

This is such a neat little product to have sleek hair! I love the braid and the bun!

I'm afraid I don't have a solution for the eye bags :( I read the comments and can't come up with anything more than what they said! Sorry!

    1. hehehe! :) you take awesome shots tho! i tried by the window pictures. they were even harder to capture. any photography tips there? :)

    2. Aww thanks..I usually take a half a trillion and then only post one up :P

I do by the window pictures when the sunrays aren't full blast, but rather when it's toned it down a little! Me squinting at the sun doesn't look particularly nice! I also use a mirror so that I can see my screen of my camera as unfortunately I don't have any fancy flip-screen cameras! ...and it ends there pretty much!

    3. ah hah! thats a good idea!! maybe evening sun would be good for pictures!! the squinting was exactly my problem!!! :)

  10. Love your messy bun and braid!

    And tripple eye bag five!
I've tried using photoshop to edit away my eye bags before and frankly, i think i would look a little strange without them. So i guess, i've learnt to live with them, jus wish they wern't so dark as well :)

    1. i learnt it from wendy's lookbook. she has a tutorial that is fantastic! of course mine is a bit more haphazard as im usually in a rush! :)

hahahaha i get daniel to photoshop too! but since most of my pictures are untouched, its odd when i see myself without!! good concealer it is for us then! :) haha...

  11. I have triple eye bags too! You can try massage and eye cream that depuffs to alleviate the condition but honestly, the only way to really remove these eyebags is.. surgery... which of course takes tonnes of courage and has a downtime. i won't really consider that option...

    1. i'll think about surgery later in life. but massage and eye cream in full force this year!!

  12. The yellow lighting.. happens to me too! Love your braid.. looks like I will never get a chance to try it, my hair's always a short bob.
As for the eyebags, eye masks perhaps? ;)

    1. when you grow it out maybe? i miss bobs! my curly wiry hair doesn't do bob as well as yours!!

  13. hmm, what about less salt intake? they always say how sugar ages your skin and salt gives you water retention.

oh my, i think it happens to ladies with big eyes! I have eye bags too, no matter how much I sleep. :X and the tricky part is, you can't massage too much in fear of fine lines developing around the area. so i just live with it. ha!

haven't been commenting on your posts lately because of my crazy schedule, but it's still one of my daily reads! :D
