little snaps around asakusa

we met up with our friends for a new year lunch! mind you, this is after days of chilling out at home so we were feeling a little cabin fever. and it was such a treat to be out and about.

we were spoilt with some traditional kaiseki ryōri.
every item in our meal had a significant meaning for well-wishes in the new year.

i love the exquisite tastes & presentation of japanese food!

after lunch, we went for a stroll around the temple which was swamped with people visiting the temple during new year, hatsumode.

there is order in the crowds.

the path leading to the temple filled with little snacks and souvenirs!

my work begins today! i had such a lovely new year break its going to be hard to get started again.
but im excited about january!! we have a string of visitors, a birthday, many dinner plans and a ski trip planned! what are you excited about this month?

xx

  2. i went nuts!! near Asakusa buying kitchen doorway banners and little knick knacks for the home the last time i was there. even had this unexplained urge to buy those wikkid plastic display food and beers just because.

i reckon its fascinatingly cool (and will not flag or infuriate Oz custom officers). haHaha!! wishing Muu, D and you a very happy new year poppet. *huuugss* glad you had a good start to 2012. always a good sign of the year to come ;)
