craft ideas:: transparent raincoat

on our recent trip back to australia, the husband ran in the melbourne marathon.

as the race started in the wee hours of the morning in early spring,  we expected nippy weather so he decided to run in a trash bag!! i wish i was kidding.. (and i especially wish i took a picture) but it was truly a black trash bag with holes for his head and arms. c'est tout! i did convince him that he needed a woven trashbag scarf to keep his neck warm. but he resisted all other project-runway-esque ideas.

which got me thinking...
perhaps a raincoat diy is in the order!

can you tell that im feeling the transparent see-through look? :) and if my sewing and drafting skills were a little more nifty, i'd definitely give the second style or this amazing raincoat diy a go. but i think i can work out a simple cut holes in plastic sheet concept.

what do you think?

  1. I've def seen the trash bag solution in marathons...But the other solution is to get a really cheap windbreaker (and/or cheap layers) and toss it on the road once it is too hot to wear...I think they provide better warmth than plastic ;-)

  2. Hahaha, the image of your hubby running in a trashbag outfit is pretty hilarious! I'd refuse to acknowledge that guy is my husband in similar circumstances. :P
