in the kitchen:: chicken noodle soup

a while ago, one of you guys suggested that share my culinary adventures.
i thought that was a brilliant suggestion (and i love hearing from y'all..)
but after a few attempts, i ran out of things to show & tell...
because 1) i always make the same dishes and
2) im a stew kinda person. and stews are really hard to glam up! :)

but im gonna try harder!!

what's your go-to food when you're feeling under the weather?
the funny thing is i always crave for chunky chicken noodle soup. and daniel's comfort food is chicken "chook" (asian chicken porridge).

guilty & dirty-mouthed carrot stealer!!
when i was styling up that shot above, this little stinker snuck in for a snack.

here's what i throw into my "im-sick" chicken soup.

  • 1 pound chicken breast
  • 2 carrots
  • 4 stalks celery
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup of freshly chopped parsley
  • oregano, basil, salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules (optional)
all in a pot and boil until soft & tasty.

i like mine with slurpy egg noodles and daniel likes his with roasted potato.
serve it in bed with a side of vitamin c and a long nap.
and you'll feel better in no time.

xx

  2. I ask for congee when I'm not feeling well, usually with minced pork and a dash of sesame oil. Or chicken macaroni soup! Your chicken soup looks really yummy though.

  3. I like chicken noodle soup anytime, and yours look great! When I'm sick I gotta have chicken porridge, nothing else! I remember falling sick in Zambia and frantically trying to skype my mom going "Gimme your chicken porridge recipe NOW!"

yikes! i imagine it would be hard to get chicken porridge in zambia! when we first moved away from home there were many "SOS" calls like that too!
