to korea with love..

i have a very special girlfriend. her enthusiasm and positive energy inspires me! despite the distance, i know that she's got my back.

one my favorite quality in her is the "can do" attitude. given that both of us are very well-taken care of by our mums since young (read: spoilt and useless in the kitchen), we were both very clueless when we first moved to usa. we were craving for real asian food ALL the time!! but each time i say "man! i miss kimchi fried rice!" or "you know? over new year, we eat dumplings back home.." she would always come back with "oh! that's easy! i'll make it for you zhingy!" with such confidence. and then she'd do a quick google search and come back with some kick-ass plan and guess what? it always worked out fine.

now, isn't that awesome? we laugh about that all the time but truth is, when i first started living on my own, its really that attitude that helped me a whole lot and now i use it in all aspects of my daily life. clip my dogs' nails? youtube. make quilts? online tutorials. if there is a will, there is always a way.

so, we were shopping in shinjuku recently and saw some really cute and SUUUPPPER pricey aprons (hello, japan!). so i bit the bullet and said "judy, i'll make you one!" colour requested, black. something girly, fun and in half-apron style. armed with all that information, i hit fabric street in nippori and picked this "black-ish", grey with silver polka dotted fabric and came up with this! excuse the awkward photography.

a little half apron with scallops!!

with a little felt pocket for knick-knacks..

the stitches ain't perfect and i would have done it with a black trimming instead for contrast. but im generally happy! after so many years, i finally get to return the favour for such awesome meals and her kick-ass friendship. (babe, i've got your back too!)

happy thursday, folks! :)
