rodarte + ballet

black swan. im in two minds about this movie. i love anything ballet and have a thing for close to skeletal figures. and fashion-forward ballet costumes, definitely my thing..

rodarte designed the costumes for the movies and did a stunningly amazing job. i am obsessed with tutus...

and the detailing at the back of this piece is pure genius.

natalie portman looks gorgeous and there seems to be rave reviews all over the internet. but psychological thrillers, blood and self-mutilation really messes with my brains so im a little scared. and intrigued at the same time.

has anyone watched it? love it or hate it? do you think I'll like it? or will I have nightmares for a month? catch out the official trailers here.

  3. there were some scenes that were a little scary. i think most people were bothered by the skin peeling scenes, but i just looked away in that case.

maybe i should wait to buy the DVD so i can mute and fast-forward the scary parts..

  6. I want to watch this movie too cos i'm a sucker for ballet costumes & i like Natalie Portman.
I can't believe how incredibly skinny she got to act in this role. Scary!

  7. i like skinny (near anorexic gals)!! so when it hear about that in tabloids about natalie portman and her co-star, it made the movie even more attractive!! :)
let me know how it goes! im nervous and it would probably be 2 months before it comes to japan!

  8. i think japan will take as long. and thats if they don't insist on badly dubbing japanese and butchering the film! :( :( :(

  9. We watched it thinking it wouldn't be very good (actually thought it was more of a ballet chick flick!) and were totally blown away by how awesome it was. Chris really liked it, which was amazing as he was moaning about having to watch a 'ballet movie'. Afterwards, he was like "didn't realise it was like THAT!"

  15. juz googled! apparently in Feb!
i dunno... given shes so smart and all (she's from harvard!), and now shes doing things the other way around (kid > engaged > marriage). i suppose maybe thats how she wants things to be and we *i meant i* shouldnt judged.
and yes i agree with you that i think she deserved better. not that the guy is a scum or lowdown but maybe natalie should marry a prince!
