wedding stuff: barong tagalog

in true singaporean-bridal style, i'll be changing from my wedding gown into a formal cheongsam. and maybe (this is me being really indulgent of course) an additional modern tea-length cheongsam for the tea ceremony. also i have a traditional kwa on standby too that's really pretty and extra special cos my mum wore it at her own wedding many many years ago. im excited to wear any of them and have options spilling out of my ear!

and in the spirit of celebrating out heritage, we had initially planned to have daniel wear the barong tagalog, a tribute to his pinoy roots.

this boy looks yummy!! :)

the most formal of all barong tagalogs come in Piña fabric, hand-loomed from pineapple leaf fibers, how interesting!! i'd love to wear something made of pineapple leaves!! *ahem* and im sure mum (in law) will approve!! but now for the big question, where in the world are we gonna find a barong tagalog for daniel?? found an online store based in the states. but surely, being in asia and all, we must be able to get access to something from a nearer source!?!

almost as intricate as lace!

help!! holler if you know anyone retailing them in singapore!! or anywhere nearer than USA! salamat po!

  3. Please show us photos of the cheongsam!
By the way, what else can a bride wear during the tea ceremony (other than cheongsam and kwa)? I am quite big size so I feel weird seeing myself in the kwa when I tried it at the bridal shop. Cheongsam seems out because I have big hips! Will appreciate if you can give me some ideas yah? Also, any good recommendations for shops that do tailoring for women?
Oh ya, my partner and I just went to Sze Sze Tailor for his suits - We were totally impressed with Mr Ong's service and we can't wait to see the end product.
