the dress that COULD have been..

i love buying dresses! cocktail, work, evening, summer, all sorts! they're all so pretty and and easy to wear! im such a dress girl that i only have (1) pair of pants and (1) pair of jeans. even then i hardly wear them!

last christmas when we were back in australia, i was shopping with one of my bridesmaid, yeeshuen when we met carla zampatti. and fell in love with their dresses.. they're insanely cute and ruffley with bales and bales of cloth. but the amazing thing is how its still slim cutting and fits well.. they retail for approximately $900 - $1200 with light and sensible fabrics!

im swooning over the soft pink and ruffles...

such a classic!

so she talked me into giving one of them a twirl.

fitted me to the T! with minimal alternations to the length. (p.s. i was barefooted)

very simple but i loved the scrunchie front! it was made with some crinkle metallic fabric so i could scrunch it anyway and it would stay so so fun, right? and the best part, it was on discount from $1200 to $600... but it was too early in the wedding process (i hadn't picked the venue even then!) and we were both hyperventilating so couldn't decide if it was right. and they wouldn't hold it for us. so i got my mother in law, who jumped into the car and drove to see me in the dress. and we hmm and ahhed over it. it was the first wedding dress i wore and we didn't know if its meant to feel any different. we took pictures, emailed it to my family in hawaii, waiting for THE sign. but nada. so we said bye to her..

i just keep this picture in my digital camera till today and look at it wistfully ever so often. actually, i have full faith that my actual dress would be pretty too BUT this would have been so much easier! it would have been all done and set by now! no more dress fittings and all that good stuff...

this recent trip, i dragged the whole gang into carla zampatti again. tried on this awesome blue evening dress and maybe cos he spent too many night trying to answer my whiney "baby, do you think i should have gotten that dress??" (without knowing even how THAT dress looks...) daniel immediately spared everyone from the pain of hmming and ahhing and said. "ok. we're getting it." yayyyy, decisive husband!

indulge in my bridezilla moment, but seriously, can you see me walking down the aisle in THAT dress?

p.s. its no longer available so this is all coffee table talk. :(

  1. Some things and some dresses are just not meant to be. But the way I see it, it's cos you didn't have THAT dress, that you got the whole experience of dress fittings (hey, every bridezilla has to go through that, no shortcuts!) *and* an awesome blue evening dress! Now post pics of that blue evening dress please...

  10. Personally, I feel that the dress is nice, but a bit too plain. You need some bling on your wedding dress! ;p

  17. that was my mum's biggest gripe too!!
my mum is the fashionista. she had in mind, for her little princess, something dramatic with a SUPER long veil. haha.. high expectations! :)

  19. they have it with a slightly different (halter) neckline!! trust me i was TEMPTED.. but for wedding purposes, my mum requested no black dresses. she reckons my grandma would faint. :)
