CHRISTMASS!!! :)
and no christmas is complete without some merry christmas stocking and long long santa lists.. i've been cooped up at home buried in a bout of post- vacay blues. who can blame me, right? i've really been travelling quite a bit last few weeks.. so i directed my energy to creating the allenders brand new stockings!!
wanna hear the best part?? they were all recycled from old clothes!!
all found at less than $2 each!! :)
papa's stocking, complete with a "swim coach" tag. he's a superduper swimmer!!
daniel's very tickled that dad's stocking was made out of some japanese schoolgirl skirt. *le sigh* men..
mama's nautical inspired stocking! don't you love how festive it looks??
i love daniel's stocking. its extra special cos its made out of the first work suit he purchased 5 years ago when he was a young dashing lawyer.. the suits a little out-dated and boxy. but he's been holding onto it for sentimental reasons.(awww...)
my favorite-est in the bunch of course.. i have been practising my top stitching a fair bit since im machine-less in cambodia!! :) and just for dramatic effect, i added a little twinkle to the shoe lace. ok.. i admit i spent a little more on my stocking. i paid 500 riel (11 cents) on 1 meter of pink trimming from the local market cos it made it so much more frou-frou and twirly. reminds me a little of tutu skirts!!
they're all set for christmas! ready for some serious stuffings!! :) :) :)
Wait, I'm confused.. did you make the red stocking out of the red jacket??
ReplyDeleteI love the red jacket! So cute!
ReplyDeletehahaha yes i did..
ReplyDeletei did like the red jacket very much on it own too.. but now its just scraps.. :)
pretty~!!
ReplyDeletethanks babe! :) the ballerina one just made me feel like dancing again!! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome purchases, LOVe the red chanel-inspired jacket!!
ReplyDeleteever thought of going back dancing again? haha
ReplyDeletenot as much as we did!! i still dance salsa and ballroom sometimes with daniel but nowhere as technical or time-intensive as before..
ReplyDeletei think my old bones can't take it anymore!!
it was such a steal! yippee! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're so creative babe!!!
ReplyDeletewhatt... haha u're still so young!! u can still dance!
ReplyDeletehahah! thank you!
ReplyDeletei also have tooo much time on my hands! ;)
haha.. what a compliment. but seriously now, once i stopped, my flexibility went out of the window (also my figure..) i cant fathom wearing any type of costume or form-fitting lycra anymore! haha..
ReplyDeleteCute! Thanks for your Phnom Penh recommendations btw, loved the soursop smoothie at Friends and managed to stock up at Kravan House accordingly... not to mention some stealth shopping at Spicy Green Mango where I managed to pick up a pair of leather flats in under 5 minutes heh. The glaring poverty in PP must make it a somewhat dismal place to live in, but I'm glad there are nice places to escape to once in a while. xx
ReplyDeletemeep! if i could spell "pretty" in 100 languages...i would! i think i threw my home-ed skills outta the window eons ago~ well done babe!
ReplyDeleteim so jealous, ur so good with your hands! i wish i can sew!
ReplyDeletewow you are so crafty!! :) was your hubby a lawyer too? Did he manage to leave the profession (of crappy hours) behind? :p
ReplyDeleteooo im glad you had fun! :) you seem to hit all the right places! spicy green mango has cute stuff!!
ReplyDeleteand yes, pp is not exactly filled with rainbows and glitter. and the constant staring and hagglings wears you down. it gets quite depressing after a while. i guess thats why we keep jetsetting out to keep things in perspective...
hahah thanks! :)
ReplyDeletethe husband is (unfortunately) still a lawyer, crappy hours, weird clients and the full works!!
hahah.. this one is just basic stitching!! (i cheated a little at times with my hot glue gun!
ReplyDeletei wish i had a proper sewing machine so i can really really sew! :)
haha!! thanks babe!! what a HUGE compliment coming from you!! :)
ReplyDeleteplus i was too el-cheapo to splurge $40 plus shipping each on a homemade stocking i spied on etsy. so i rolled up my sleeves and sucked it up!
hey~ it's more meaningful this way! and besides, u and ur current recycling obsession (read the latest entry before leaving this)...this is perfect!
ReplyDeleteonly thing i'm wondering...is it really big enough to stuff boxes in? they look cutesyly small from the pictures~
i KNOW!!! i didn't think about it until it was done!!
ReplyDeletei guess santa would have be extra creative with his BEEEG presents! maybe leave them on the floor next to stockings!!
Well if you need a nice little retreat in the city, the hotel we stayed at right next to the Royal Palace grounds called The Pavilion has private pool suites and is a lovely sanctuary away from the grimy reality just outside.
ReplyDeleteahhaha...maybe he'll do voucher or blank cheque style this year =)
ReplyDeletewahhhhh okok! i will write that down in my "wish list" which is actually super duper long! :)
ReplyDeleteHi I'm Joey, you commented on my blogger the other day. Anyway which part of Japan did you go? I'm going there too! :) Tell me some thrift stores there please!! :)
ReplyDeletehi joey! :) i went to nagoya & kanazawa this time around! but i loved the thift shops in karajuku the most! they weren't thrifty though, some things were more expensive than brand new items! :)
ReplyDeletehave a great time.. i love japan sooo much! :)
what can i say?! You've been always creative n u're still living it out!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the stockings, esp those with the gold buttons!
eh.. typo. i mean thrift shops in Harajuku, Tokyo.
ReplyDeletethank you!! :) i hope my parents in law will like them too and not find them too kiddy!
ReplyDeletemy dream for next year is to become a good chef like you! :)

ReplyDeletepretty good effort for an apprentice!!
