something old, something new, something borrowed...

i once told a bride that her dress looked AMAZING at the end of the party, she whispered that she paid USD$2000 (only!!)  for her Vera Wang couture dress. so i checked out once wed to take a glimpse at their dresses! see the above? a Monique Lhuillier: Miranda dress brand new at a fraction of its original cost (USD$ 1800 only). i find that a very fascinating concept to toy with but not too common in singapore, right?

would you consider purchasing someone else's once worn wedding dress?

  1. If it makes me look like the model above? why not?

  2. Yes! If only I could try it somewhere first, or have easy avenue to resell it. I was browsing once wed too and lamented that there isn't a community in Singapore to resell it easily if it doesn't look right.

  3. Borrowed?!!!
No way!! A wedding dress is like the wedding ring it has to be unique, magical, special and totally you! Imagine looking at the wedding photos and thinking umm....that is someone else's dress. Or thinking...yea this is my something "borrowed". I don't even like heirloom rings for engagements and weddings...any other day NO PROBLEM as for the wedding...I'm all about being unique and marking that day as specialest ever ever!! I seriously doubt that I would let anyone wear white OTHER THAN ME OF COURSE at my wedding ;)

i used to feel like this until i found out that most of the bridal houses in singapore rents gowns and dresses to you!! which makes it no different from purchasing something you really like online!! at least you get to keep it after the wedding.
but i agree with the wedding ring part!
