pursuit of happyness

i have always been a fan of will smith. but this is by far his most amazing role. and the very fact that it was inspired by a true story made it all the more touching & inspiring. just the thought that there are people out there (me as a fine example) that have so much but still constantly pine for more more more, make me feel guilty and ashamed. and when he was told he got the job as a stockbroker, oh my! it was waterworks all round.. me and marina decided to catch it in impulse and did not regret it a single bit. =) left a nice warm fuzzy feeling afterwards.. very cliche but heartwarming "you can do it!" kinda moral of the story...

which comes as a very timely reminder that its the simple things that really matter.

i didn't call home when everyone else was having a party at home. i was a coward. or maybe it was sour grapes. or maybe i just didn't want to be sobbing on the web cam cos i wanted to be there with everyone else. but my christmas here wasn't half as bad as i thought it would be.

i did get to spend it with Lorreine's tiny family, played with gigi and went to midnight church service. very low key, nothing fancy but all that i wanted. and when i woke up in the morning. at 7am sharp, like a kid, we unwrapped presents in PJs, exchanged hugs and kisses and had warm milk for breakfast and lay under the tree to look at christmas lights...

my kinda christmas...
